Some of our Major Giving Projects

Masjids

The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, ‘Whoever constructs a masjid for Allah, Allah will construct a house for him in Paradise’. (Bukhari)

A masjid is at the heart of any local Muslim community. It provides a place for its worshippers to pray and contemplate as well as being a hub for educational programmes and other everyday services. The role of the masjid is to help people learn more about Islam and to nurture their moral and spiritual development.

By building a masjid you will not only earn the reward of providing a community with a house of Allah, but your Sadaqah Jariyah will continue giving benefit for generations to come in sha' Allah.

Locations include Pakistan,ÌýNiger andÌýMali. For other locations and for more information please contact us at: majorgiving@muslimhands.org.uk

Education

Education is the key that unlocks countless opportunities. It is a way out of poverty, a driving force for social change and an important aspect of personal development and welfare. This is why it is at the heart of the work we do.

Many children in rural communities struggle to learn due to schools being too far away, and they miss out on vital opportunities as a result.

You can help us provide education to orphans and needy children by constructing schools in rural areas.

You can either build a new school or build new classrooms for existing schools. You can choose from locations across Asia and Africa, and our experts will ensure that the schools are built in the areas which need it most.

The schools will be functional for a long time, benefiting many generations of children. Each classroom will carry a commemorative plaque of the donor.

This is a unique Sadaqah Jariyah scheme which will provide much-needed educational facilities to disadvantaged communities.

Water

'The best charity is giving water to drink'. (Ahmad)

With over 3.4 million people dying from water-related illnesses each year [WHO], unsafe water is the single biggest obstacle to the progression and health of communities in the developingÌýworld. Access to clean water can transform the lives of a whole community.

You can make a difference to thousands of people when you give your Zakat or sadaqah to one of our Major Giving water projects.

TheseÌýspecialised constructionsÌýserve large communities suffering from a severe lack of clean water and include solar-powered boreholes which use the sun's energy to bring fresh water up from deep underground and filtration plants which make previously undrinkable water safe for everyday use.

You can choose from several locations across Africa and Asia. For projects over £10,000, please contact the Major Giving team onÌýmajorgiving@muslimhands.org.uk

Health

'The example of the believers in their affection, mercy and compassion for each other is that of a body. When one limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever'. (Bukhari)

In many developing countries, ill-health is all too common, with millions suffering from illnesses related to unsafe water, poor sanitation, hunger and malnutrition. Many of the diseases they face are easily treatable through access to basic healthcare.

When people are unwell, they can’t go to school, they can’t work and they can’t support their families. You can make a difference to communities in need by giving your Zakat or Sadaqah to one of our Major Giving health projects.

From treating cataracts in community eye camps, to running maternity clinics in deprived areas, you can help us ensure that those most in need have access to the treatment they need.Ìý

Livelihoods

Many people in developing countries have the skills and enthusiasm to generate an income for themselves, yet lack the opportunity to put it into practice. Our livelihoods projects provide them with this opportunity by catering to the specific needs of the communities that we work with.Ìý

You can provide support to whole communities across Africa and Asia through our large-scale Livelihoods projects.

What better way to use your Sadaqah and Zakat than to empower others with the skills and resources they need to help themselves out of poverty?

Training widows in tailoring,Ìýproviding farmers with livestock and gifting female-headed households with chicken farms are just a few of the ways you can help.

YouÌýwill receive a pesonalised feedback report and a commemorative plaque with your name on will also be installed.

Islamic Wills Service with IFG

In partnership with IFG, Â鶹ɫÇéƬ is providing supporters with bespoke Islamic Wills – for a limited time only price of just £35, down from the usual £98.

We understand how difficult it may be to find a complete Islamic Wills service that complies with both Islamic and English law. Thats why we've partnered with IFG to give our supporters an opportunity to fulfil their Islamic obligation of having a Sharia compliant Will.

The Prophet, saw, said: 'It is not permissible for any Muslim who has something to will to stay for two nights without having his Last Will and Testament written and kept ready with him'.

By using our Will service, you will have a legally binding document setting out your inheritors according to Islamic law. You can decide who is in charge of distributing your wealth and ensure your family will not face unncessary stress in such a difficult time.

Just fill in the simple online form in 20 minutes and you can have a legal draft of your Will within one week. You can even make amendments as and when required for a low fee, ensuring your instructions are always up-to-date.

‘When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah (a continuous charity), or knowledge from which benefit is gained, or a righteous child who prays for him’. [Muslim]
